1.0 SCOPE
Acoustic decouplers are used between barriers for improved noise control. Decoupler stiffness is an important parameter affecting the noise transmission loss. This test method describes a measurement technique for determination of the operating-point static bulk stiffness and modulus. Requirements for these parameters are expressed in TMS specifications for foam and certain other types of insulators. Test setup and guidelines used in this test method follow the general method of ASTM D3574 ¿ Test C (COMPRESSION FORCE DEFLECTION TEST), with particular changes as indicated below. The modifications listed below (herein) supercede the corresponding requirements of the ASTM D3574 ¿ Test C.
