GENERAL: This standard is in accordance with SAE J512 and is intended for general application on the automotive and allied fields and used with annealed copper alloy tubing. To assure satisfactory performance, tapered sleeve compression type fitting components should not be intermixed with spherical sleeve compression type fitting components (SAE J246) when assembling connections in areas where both types are available.

The 45° Flared Tube Fittings have been consolidated with the Refrigeration and Marine Tube Fittings.

Wherever applicable, the respective fitting sizes and styles intended for general use with flared annealed copper tubing in refrigeration applications have been designated "Refrigeration Series" in the subtitles.
