All product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the MPAPS B-50 specification.

APPLICATION

This specification covers material for a diesel engine cylindrical component known as a carbon scraper ring, protection ring, fire ring, or anti-polishing ring that is inserted in the upper part of an engine cylinder liner in the position of a top dead centre above the top land of the piston (Figure 1). Its functions and characteristics are:

• Scrapes off the hard carbon deposit which forms on the top land of the piston.

• Helps to prevent the inner cylinder wall from wearing and to keep lubricating oil consumption low level.

• Same heat expansion as a cylinder liner by using same material.
