This specification covers construction, material, finish requirements, design guidelines, tolerances and KCC, workmanship standards, quality control, and source approval for the tubing types allowed by this specification.
THIS SPECIFICATION REPLACES ENGINEERING DRAWING AM-74447. Existing drawings may reference AM-74447 for material, end configuration, bead design, bend radii, tolerances, etc. Such references are superseded by this specification.
Restricted Chemical Substances
Effective JULY 1, 1997, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of CEMS B-50.
APPLICATION
This specification covers steel tubing used in exhaust, coolant, oil fill, and charge air systems, with formed, beaded, or straight ends and applies to tubing 1.625 to 7.00 inches in diameter.
NOTE: Refer to TMS-1059 for aluminum tubing used in coolant, air and CAC systems.
Refer to TMS-1061 for steel tubing less than 1¼ inch O.D. used in coolant (HVAC) systems.
For new single-wall exhaust tubing designs, use TMS-1069.
Coolant hose end form designs are covered by CEMS F-1. Any releases after April 2012 shall use that standard.
