This specification covers construction, material and finish requirements, design requirements and guidelines, part marking requirements, tolerances and KCC, workmanship standards, and quality control and source approval for the types of tubing covered by this specification.
Note 1: The use of zinc plated tubing in coolant systems is not allowed, unless prior approval from Engineering is given. In certain applications where zinc plating (CEMS G-20) may be desired and approved, it will be supplied with trivalent chromium passivation (or other hex-chrome free passivation - refer to CEMS G-20 for options).
Note 2: Larger diameter steel tubing (1-5/8 to 7 inches) used in engine air/fluid systems is covered in TMS-1058. Aluminum tubing used in engine air/fluid systems is covered in TMS-1059.
Note 3: Coolant hose end form designs are covered by CEMS F-1. Any releases after April 2012 shall use that standard.
