NFPA 69 applies to the systems and equipment used for the prevention of explosions by the prevention or control of deflagrations. The standard applies methods based upon preventing combustion and methods based upon limiting or preventing damage.
The 2002 edition incorporates the following changes:
* Reorganization of chapters--the methods based upon limiting or preventing damage have been reordered to represent the priority or hierarchy for application
* Updated and expanded data on Limiting Oxidant Concentration (LOC)--the Annex containing these important data has been updated to reflect the most current experimental results and expanded to include additional materials
* Revisions incorporate expanded features in spark detection and extinguishing system design considerations
