PURPOSE AND SCOPE

This Policy defines protection grading at interfaces between National Grid Transco (NGT) and Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) to ensure that adequate discrimination of NGT back-up protection with that of DNOs is achieved.

This Policy applies to the DNOs overcurrent and earth fault protections and it sets out the protection settings requirements which when applied will ensure compliance with The Grid Code requirements on discrimination.

This Policy shall be read in conjunction with TGN(E)203, which provides the background and necessary guidance on its application.
