INTRODUCTION

This schedule of site commissioning tests details, in general terms, a range of checks and performance tests on SVC plant which are considered to be the minimum tests that are necessary prior to commercial loading. Individual Contractors may perform additional tests to those specified in this document. Commissioning requirements for SVC protection and control systems are not within the scope of this document. Due to the scope for large variations in SVC design between different Contractors, it is expected that individual SVC Contractors will supply detailed commissioning check sheets addressing these points in the most appropriate way for their particular design of equipment. The Contractor's own documents should ideally be sufficiently comprehensive to be used in place of this document but if necessary this check sheet should be used in conjunction with the Contractor's own documentation to ensure that the appropriate commissioning checks and performance tests are carried out.

Acceptability of all checks and performance testing shall be signed off by both the Contractor's representative and the responsible National Grid Company plc (NGC) Engineer. The acceptability of all checks and performance test results shall be judged against the appropriate specification values or the appropriate operational requirements.

The site commissioning tests recommended in this document fall into two categories; tests to be performed on individual component equipment items, and performance tests required on the SVC installation as a whole. These are detailed in Sections 2 and 3 respectively.
