PURPOSE AND SCOPE

This Specification describes the National Grid technical requirements for a relocatable 132 kV connected Mechanically Switched Capacitor (MSC) and a 132 kV connected Mechanically Switched Capacitor incorporating a damping network (MSCDN). It also describes the requirements for an additional damping network (DN) to enable the adaptation of an existing 132 kV MSC into an MSCDN. This Specification does not include the associated circuit breaker, disconnectors, and certain earthing switches, which will be specified in the Enquiry Document on a site-specific basis.

Reference is made to TS 1 in respect of the general applicability of the requirements of this and other (NG)TS specifications to non National Grid connected Users of the Transmission System.
