This specification relates to permanent magnets that are used to test the AWS on vehicles as they leave a traction maintenance depot. The magnets are usually positioned on the exit line from a traction maintenance depot.

This specification covers two magnets:-

The original depot test magnet BR Cat. No. 62/6800 which is still in use but for future purchases has been replaced by the following magnet.

The new pattern depot test magnet BR Cat. No. 62/6812 that will be used for all future applications and where necessary as a replacement for the original type magnet.
