GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF A HOT AXLEBOX DETECTOR SYSTEM
Equipment is required to detect overheated axleboxes on passing trains (moving at speeds of 5 to 150 mph) at a specific trackside location on curved or straight track, and to provide information within a limited time as to the relative position in the train of overheated axleboxes at specified, remote, control center.
The equipment shall only be required to operate in respect of trains in one direction, but shall either operate correctly for or ignore trains travelling in the opposite direction on the same line.
Where referenced is made in this specification to any British Standard or British Railways Specifications, or to other drawings, documents, etc., the latest issue shall in each case be applicable.
