The relays covered by this specification are for use in line circuits where alternating current at industrial frequency may be present in the circuit.

These relays must not be used to break circuits in which the energy dissipated at the contact exceeds the limit given in clause 12.1. In general, this means that equipment such as 1ever 1ocks must be spark quenched.

This specification relates to design requirements far A.C. immune miniature tractive armature D.C. neutral line relays of the plug-in type for use in railway signalling circuits.
