This Noticeboard describes when reminder devices should be applied, how to manage temporary alterations to circuits and renewal of cables where reminder devices are in place.
Purpose
When a disconnection link is removed to separate a circuit into two parts, or to allow the terminations to be used as binding posts, then a reminder device is required to prevent reconnection. For traditional terminations (2BA or 0BA) then red, plastic dome nuts are used. For other types of link, red insulating reminder devices can be inserted.
On a number of occasions, staff have inadvertently reconnected a circuit allowing interlocking controls to be bridged out. This Noticeboard re-iterates when reminder devices should be applied and the actions to be taken when working on circuits where reminder devices are present.
