This Notice Board applies to all projects where overrun management could be implemented in a signalling control system until the existing (Issue 1) standard is re-issued in line with the revised requirement. The requirements of this Notice Board is planned to be piloted on the following projects;

• Bristol Area Signalling Renewal and Enhancement [DeltaRail]

• Bromsgrove/Birmingham New Street [Siemens]

• Cardiff Area Signalling Renewal [GETS].

All projects are encouraged to adopt the requirements of this Notice Board; unless a project meets one of the criteria of items 1-5 of the ‘Implementation' section below. Decision contrary to this Notice Board shall require consultation and approval of Network Rail's Professional Head (Signals and Controls).

Purpose

This Notice Board advises of a revised set of outline requirements for overrun management that will support the safety improvement objective of simpler interlocking data [and circuitry]. The signalling control system suppliers will offer this functionality through an upgrade to existing approved products. This will allow the reduction in complexity and cost of interlocking data to be achieved while delivering similar or better operational safety.
