This NB applies to all projects submitting a PAS/SD to NRAP.

While not all projects will be implementing DR Systems, the submission of the PAS/SD to NRAP now includes a check that projects which are implementing DR Systems intend follow a process outlined in this Notice Board. All projects implementing DR systems will need to demonstrate that they will use the DR Generic Requirements suite including Customer Requirements Documents (CRD) and Digital Railway Requirements Documents (DRRDs). Through the DR Generic Requirements suite all projects implementing DR system will need to have full traceability to the GB National requirements and are not requiring further customisation of products and solutions. The consistent operation set out in the ETCS reference design and efficient authorisation for entry into service require adherence to the DR Generic requirements.

Purpose

This notice board covers two areas related to the deployment of Digital Railway (DR) systems (which include ETCS,

Traffic Management, Drivers Advisory Systems and Automatic Train Operation):

• It provides information for all projects on the criteria that the Network Rail Assurance Panel (NRAP) will apply to its assessment of any Project Authorisation Strategy (PAS) / System Definition (SD) which it considers is related to DR systems.

• It outlines the steps project are to follow for logging items with the Head of System Authority Issues Management process for dealing with all issues related to the generic DR Generic Requirements Suite in order to promote the continual development and a consistent approach to improvement and correction.
