The duties and responsibilities outlined in this Handbook apply to all Network Rail employees and premises occupied by or managed by Network Rail, together with NRCI.

Purpose

The Company Fire Safety Handbook is a suite of documents, comprising the corporate fire safety policy and mandatory instructions, together with Guidance Notes, setting out guidance for implementation of the policy within generic business areas for the effective management of fire safety.

The Company Fire Safety Handbook defines the fire safety policy and procedures for the delivery of effective fire safety management as required in Network Rail's Railway Safety Case.

The handbook is for use by the Local Manager nominated as the Person Responsible for Management of Fire Safety (PRFS) within premises and for those managers responsible for sections of Network Rail Controlled Infrastructure (NRCI).
