NR NR/GN/CIV/003 ISSUE 2 PDF

This guidance note covers the assurance of Buildings and Civils works which may exist in discreet projects or part of a large-scale scheme involving other asset groups, track or signalling for example. 

This guidance note provides a series of prompts or aspects for consideration during a Detailed Review, based on asset type and nature of works and intended to be read in conjunction with NR/L2/RSE/02009/02, NR/L2/CIV/003 and NR/L3/CIV/151.

NOTE 1: For ASPRO schemes, the principles in NR/L2/CIV/003, NR/L1/CIV/094, NR/L2/CIV/095 and NR/L2/CIV/096, and this guidance, should be used.

NOTE 2: For definition of “Review” and “Detailed Review” used in this guidance, refer to definitions in NR/L2/RSE/02009.

NOTE 3: This guidance should be read in conjunction with environment and sustainability standards such as NR/L2/ENV/015, other ENV series standards, and environmental guidance notes such as NR/GN/ESD07 'Managing whole life carbon in infrastructure' and NR/GN/CIV/100/04 ‘Climate Action Design Manual for Buildings and Architecture’.

Purpose 

This guidance note provides guidance on Buildings & Civils (B&C) Project Engineering assurance review during the design and execution of projects, to assist B&C Project Engineers achieve architectural and engineering assurance of Buildings and Civils works.

It is to be read with NR/L2/CIV/003 and all associated Forms. It fulfils the requirements of NR/L2/RSE/02009 to provide discipline-specific guidance.
