This guidance note applies to all project works that either temporarily or permanently renew, replace, alter, decommission, remove existing assets or provide new assets on Network Rail infrastructure. This does not apply where the project work is to be undertaken by the Maintainer of those assets.

It also applies to those project works that have the capacity to affect assets that are adjacent to, but not the subject of, the project works.

It does not apply to the transfer of responsibilities on the expiry of a contract for maintenance.

Purpose

This guidance document provides support to the process for introducing new assets or affecting existing assets on Network Rail infrastructure through the development and implementation of NR/L2/MTC/089 asset management plan (AMP).
