The scope of this module is to provide consistent management of EMW inspection, maintenance and intervention of EMW assets.

This module applies to all Network Rail EMW’s within the portfolio of Buildings and Architecture and is for internal asset life cycle management.

This module does not seek to address activities of the Responsible Person (Premises Manager), as this is managed through National Operating Procedures.

This module does not apply to Train Operating Companies.

Purpose

The purpose of this module is to provide a structure for the management of inspection, maintenance and intervention of escalator and moving walk (EMW) assets such as to achieve:

a) Delivery of safe and reliable assets;

b) Delivery of a consistent structure for inspection, maintenance and intervention of escalator and moving walk (EMW) assets.

c) Compliance with relevant legislation and in particular; The Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC) – The Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 and Provision & Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER).
