Network Rail
This policy applies to all areas of Network Rail and third parties acting on behalf of Network Rail, at all times.
Purpose
Network Rail delivers a safe and sustainable railway infrastructure for its business partners, stakeholders and the public in Great Britain. The Board and Executive recognise the importance of maintaining its ability to develop and deliver this service in order to meet HM Government requirements and for Network Rail to protect its services, its reputation and its stakeholder value.
Providing for continuous delivery of services in the event of potentially catastrophic situations requires careful assessment and planning. However, seemingly less serious situations can also lead to significant disruption of the ability of Network Rail to carry out its normal business and operational functions.
This policy outlines the mandated requirements for the management of business continuity within Network Rail. It provides an overview of:
a) the Business Continuity Management (BCM) processes and procedures in place; and
b) what is required to satisfy corporate governance requirements.
This policy is in place as part of the Business Continuity Management Framework (BCMF) and is aligned to BS ISO 22301:2012 and BS EN ISO 22313:2014.
