This Company Standard is mandatory and shall be applied by Network Rail staff and contractors to all installation work of telecommunications equipment or systems on Network Rail Controlled Infrastructure, whether the installation work is carried out as part of a capital investment project, a renewal or as a requirement of routine maintenance or failure rectification.

This Company Standard does not apply to the installation of business telecoms or to the provision of leased services.

Purpose

This Company Standard details the process which shall be used for the installation of telecoms assets on Network Rail infrastructure.

The telecoms section of the Network Rail Standards Framework consists of six work streams. This Company Standard mandates the installation work stream and sets out the process which Network Rail shall use to install telecoms assets. It is supported by a number of Business Process Documents describing how the process will be undertaken.

This Company Standard should be read in conjunction with the Telecoms Engineering Policy NR/L1/TEL/30102.

Meeting the requirements of this Company Standard will achieve compliance with Railway Group Standard GK/RT0208 Installation of Signalling and Operational Telecommunications Equipment for telecoms installations.
