These notes for guidance have been developed to help the designer specify the appropriate options or additional information required by the executor where the permitted options or additional information have not be defined in the series 1700 specification. The notes for guidance are identified by the ‘NG’ pre-fix to the specification clause number.

The notes for guidance also contain a template appendix 17.

A list of Network Rail requirements that are additional or differ from Manual of Contract Document for Highway Works, Volume 2 Specification for Highways Works, Notes for Guidance series 1700 Structural Concrete can be found in appendix A. This is so that designers and executors can identify areas where the two organisations’ guidance differs.
