This module is applicable to all stakeholders involved in the procurement of switchgear for 25 kV A.C. traction distribution systems. This module applies to all new and renewed, single pole and double pole 25 kV A.C. switchgear.

This module also captures the requirements for bespoke 25 kV A.C. substation arrangements such as CAIS.

The document should be read in conjunction with the relevant procurement specification produced by the client/client’s representative.

Purpose

The purpose of this module is to define the requirements for Network Rail’s 25 kV A.C. switchgear used for A.C. traction distribution applications.

This module will mitigate the risks of:

• Unclear requirements leading to difficulties in procuring switchgear components

• Increased costs from different routes and projects working to different sets of requirements

• Non-compliance of procured components to EN 62271 or BS EN 50152.
