This module applies to all categories of OCS work but is scalable to the materials required for the work being carried out. The module outlines the process for how materials are controlled, product accepted, provided by accredited suppliers, traceable, handled correctly and subject to assurance activities that focus on the potential risks.

These requirements may be used to assist with the creation of scope specific contractual requirements related to materials management. The contract requirements may include timescales, consequences of failing to adequately carry out assurance activities and the commercial implications of defective materials.

Purpose

This module is one of four modules that make up the end-to-end process for the Construction Assurance of the Overhead Contact System (OCS).

This module describes the requirements to manage the risks associated with material control. The requirements of this module are intended to be applied before installation of the materials as defined in Module 2.
