This Specification has been prepared to supplement the provisions of the relevant European and British & International Standards, and codes of practice for the purchase, quality control and inspection of overhead contact line droppers for use on 25kV AC or 25-0-25kV AC Electrified Lines.

This Specification applies to the procurement of in-span droppers used in the UK Master Series overhead contact line system.

It does not cover droppers used in power distribution equipment, droppers forming part of OCL support & registration assemblies, droppers forming part of the design of discrete features (e.g. sectioning device or cut in insulation) or zed dropper arrangements designed to provide a mid-point mechanical restraint for the contact wire.

This specification should be read in conjunction with the relevant standards listed in section 2.
