This competence standard applies in all circumstances where any person is required to manage the isolation and Earthing of DC Conductor Rail Equipment on Network Rail controlled infrastructure.

The level and extent of responsibility includes their own safety and that of others who might be affected by their work. The Person in Scope is expected to refer to others for authorisation when required, be responsible for the implementation of the instructions and work within set procedures and specifications. The Person in Scope is responsible for the quality of their completed work.

This competence standard is used to assess the competence of people undertaking electrical safety activities associated with the DC Conductor System Infrastructure.

Purpose

The purpose of this competence standard is to define competence for persons undertaking Level A (Nominated Person) DC Conductor Rail duties when working on or having access to live DC Conductor Rail Equipment. In addition persons holding this competence are required to be sufficiently competent in all Level B (Authorised Person) units.
