This module applies in circumstances where any person is required to take responsibility for the activities of a team of individuals designated to construct enhance and/or renew OLE system. This includes any associated materials, tools, plant and/or equipment for the purpose of construction, renewal and enhancements activities on Network Rail managed infrastructure. 

The level and extent of responsibility includes their own safety and that of others who might be affected by their work. The person is expected to refer to others for authorisation when required, responsible for the implementation of the instructions and work within set procedures and specifications. The person is responsible for the quality of all the completed work which is under their supervision. 

This competence unit is used to assess the competence of people supervising the construction activities on all OLE types on Network Rail managed infrastructure. 

Purpose 

The purpose of this module is to define the competence requirements for persons responsible the control, preparation and supervision of the activities for a team, the associated materials, tools, plant and equipment when undertaking construction, renewal and enhancement activities.
