This document applies to all maintenance responsibilities that are managed by Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd consisting of:

a)Track;

b)Distribution;

c)Traction Systems;

d)Signalling and Telecoms;

e)Off-Track; and

f)Geotechnics;

NOTE: Signalling maintenance boundaries requirements captured within NR/L2/SIG/10010.

Purpose

The purpose of this document is to reduce the risk of maintenance activities not being undertaken on the railway network as a consequence of unclear responsibility for boundary areas between maintenance entities by providing aprocess for managing the demarcation of boundaries on the rail network between:

a)Network Rail and third parties;

b)areas controlled by different Section Managers;

c)areas controlled by different Maintenance Engineers;

d)routes; and

e)regions.
