This cross-functional procedure will be used by all Network Rail functions that plan and deliver work on the railway infrastructure, including: Infrastructure Maintenance, Infrastructure Investments and other Network Rail project delivery functions and their contractors. It shall be used for planning of all types of engineering haulage trains, including cable laying trains. Engineering haulage trains are distinguished from other kinds of engineering trains by the fact that they are hauled by a locomotive and not self-powered.

Purpose

This standard procedure describes the national process in Network Rail for planning and ordering engineering haulage trains via the National Delivery Service. It aligns with the planning framework of NR/L2/MTC/PL0056 "Work and possession planning for the railway infrastructure (meetings management pack).
