The procedure applies to Network Rail Directors and Senior Managers who are members of Tactical Safety Group and the Heads of Profession, their functional coordinators and designated safety management and support staff.

Purpose

This standard mandates the requirement, frequency and process for undertaking, recording, identifying follow-up actions and communicating findings from Safety Tours.

To promote an effective culture of leadership commitment to health and safety across the industry,Safety Tours are required to be carried jointly with Senior Managers from other functions. Additionally areas outside of Network Rail's responsibility are to be included in Safety Tours on a cooperative basis.
