This module mandates the requirements for the use of remote disconnection devices (RDDs) on Network Rail Managed Infrastructure (NRMI).
It provides details of:
a) technical requirements;
b) training and competence requirements;
c) design, installation, planning for use, and maintenance.
This module applies to RDDs approved for use on NRMI.
Purpose
This module details the requirements for the training and use of Remote Disconnection Devices which are used to provide additional protection to staff whilst taking line blocks. It also details how sites will be pre-assessed, designed and installed in order to provide a standardised approach to the installation of these devices as well as any restrictions on where the devices may be installed.
