This business process applies to a Persons in Charge of Possession (PICOP) who verbally communicate safety critical instructions to engineering train drivers whilst entering, traversing and exiting a possession. And the Engineering Supervisor (ES) or Safe Work Leader 2 (SWL2) who verbally communicate safety critical instructions to engineering trains and On-Track Plant (OTP) drivers(s) whilst entering, working, traversing and exiting a worksite(s).

This business process supports the requirements as published in NR/L2/OPS/037.

NOTE 1: The arrangements for the control of movements using hand signals and / or face to face communications are detailed in GE/RT8000, Handbook 15 and not detailed in this business process.

Purpose

The purpose of this business process is to implement a procedure which mitigates the risks associated with verbally controlling the movement of engineering trains and on track plant.
