This standard applies to the activities undertaken by Network Rail in association with the Private Wagon Owners and their wagons that are registered for operation on Network Rail-managed infrastructure under the PWRA. The list of applicable Private Wagon Owners and wagons is held by the PWRA team and is available on request.

Purpose

Since 1992, Network Rail and its predecessors Railtrack and British Rail, have had contractual agreements with the owners of private wagons which enabled owners' vehicles to be operated on Network Rail infrastructure. The contractual arrangements are known as the "Private Wagon Registration Agreements" (PWRAs).

This standard describes the arrangements in place within Network Rail for the management of the PWRAs.
