This procedure applies to all Special Inspection Notices (SINs) currently in force and to any issued in the future.
Purpose
To mandate the process where defects in signalling and operational telecommunications equipment which may present a hazard are identified, then initiate rapid action to identify and obviate similar defects elsewhere on the network.
To mandate the application on Network Rail of Special Inspection Notices (SINs) for signalling and operational telecommunications infrastructure and equipment.
To define the processes by which new SINs may be proposed, authorised, issued, implemented and closed, or to seek dispensation against existing SINs.
To define the means of monitoring the progress of SINs throughout Network Rail.
