General

The Assembly is an aluminium thermal pad with an element embedded within the block, which is secured to the Clamplock body with M12 studs locked by tab washers. The heater comes as a complex kit ready for installation. The signal engineering organisation is responsible for the installation and subsequent replacement of the studs but only the initial installation of the heaters. Heater testing, replacement and renewals are the responsibility of the plant organisation.

Prior to fitting the heater assembly, arrangement shall be made to work on the points, as stated in the Rule Book. The serial number of the heater and date of fitting shall be recorded and passed to the organisation responsible for the plant.

Two heaters are required for each point end and should be positioned with the heater cable pointing towards the existing heater harness, as shown in figure K1

Note:

The fitting position utilises the four bolt holes nearest to the "4 foot", i.e. the innermost position.
