This Level 2 document does not supersede the requirements to comply with the Railway Interoperability Regulations which may require extra provisions to be made over and above the minimum, technical requirements stated here. Approval of the work is to be in accordance with the Railways and Other Guided Transportation Systems (Safety) Regulations 2006 and Network Rail procedures.
Purpose
The purpose of the Level 2 document is to define the minimum signalling requirement for S&C Renewal or Recovery Projects and that S&C delivery teams are provided with clear direction. Changes in materials, historic practices and other safety initiatives mean that "like for like" may not meet the company's objectives for safety and reliability. This process is to be applied to all S&C Renewals and Recoveries.
