These requirements apply to an electronic treadle system which is a functional replacement of existing electro-mechanical treadles installed on Network Rail infrastructure.

Purpose

The purpose of this specification is to define the requirements of an electronic treadle system.

The treadle system is designed to:

a) be functionally equivalent to existing electro-mechanical treadles; having no moving parts, greater reliability and reduced whole life costs;

b) reduce the risk of service affecting failures by providing high availability; and

c) reduce the exposure to working with warning safe system of work by requiring reduced maintenance and facilitating remote condition monitoring.
