The requirements of Modules D to L inclusive apply to alterations (as defined below) to existing level crossings and for new level crossings subject to any project specific deviations already agreed against GI/RT7012.

NOTE Since there are no changed measures from the previous Group Standard which had a compliance date of 5th February 2005, there is no exemption for projects which have not completed GRIP stage 4 or equivalent.

Unless required as a result of risk assessment undertaken in accordance with NR/L2/OPS/100, action to bring existing level crossings into compliance with the requirements of Modules D to L inclusive is not required.

Purpose

This document mandates the requirements for the design, construction, inspection, maintenance, operation and decommissioning of level crossings.

With the withdrawal of GI/RT7012 and its replacement by GK/RT0192, this document is an interim standard to retain the measures pending a full review.

The document consists of this standard and a series of lettered modules reflecting the previous parts of GI/RT7012. The lettered parts start at D to maintain consistency with the withdrawn Group Standard.
