This document specifies the key requirements, and mandates the use of the suite of Maintenance Instructions, required by Network Rail for the maintenance of its telecoms assets.

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, this document applies to all Network Rail staff and contractors engaged in the maintenance of Network Rail’s telecoms assets.

Purpose

Network Rail requires its telecoms equipment to be maintained efficiently to support railway operations and to run train services safely, reliably and effectively.

This document sets out the maintenance and management responsibilities for persons engaged in the maintenance of telecoms equipment used by Network Rail.

The purpose of undertaking maintenance is to maintain Network Rail's assets in good condition, to decrease the risk of any incidents of failures through deterioration and to identify potential failures before they become service effecting.
