This standard is applicable where the DTS is planned to be used on Network Rail infrastructure. The standard covers the basic operating principles for the use of the DTS.
The standard applies to:
a) Renewal/enhancement work;
b) Refurbishment work;
c) Maintenance work.
This standard applies to all S&C and plain line track assets, excluding:
d) Bull head rail track systems
e) Slab track
f) Direct-fastened track
g) Track supported on longitudinal timbers
The use of DTS is prohibited on all track types outside the scope of the standard.
