This document applies to product approval, quality control, inspection and installation for the purchase, supply, installation and maintenance of composite products for use on Network Rail infrastructure as:
• bearers in switch and crossing layouts;
• longitudinal bearer systems for bridges, platforms and pit roads;
• sleepers for plain line;
• bearers for adjustment and expansion switches.
All requirements included in this Standard are to be considered in conjunction with the testing requirements laid out in BS ISO 12856.
Purpose
The purpose of this document is to provide specification to control the risk of incorrect material use for track construction of composite sleepers, bearers and longitudinal bearer systems.
