This standard specifies the minimum lighting requirements and applies to the renewal, inspection and maintenance of the following assets on running lines and sidings:

a) plain line track;

b) switches and crossings (S&C); and

c) closed lines.

The standard applies to any individuals and organisations carrying out the activities described above.

Purpose

This standard defines the minimum lighting required:

a) for effective visual track inspection so defects are detectable and can be reported; and

b) to comply with legislation, European standards and NR/L2/TRK/001.
