This module outlines revised inspection and maintenance regimes for plain line CWR track system under standardised RBM regimes. This standard applies to the inspection and maintenance of the following assets on running lines:

a)  Plain line flat bottom Continuously Welded Rail (CWR) - regardless of PLPR status

b)  Dynamic track geometry recording

c)  Line speed 125mph or less

d)  Axle loads 25.5tonnes or less

e)  Adjustment switches

The scope of this standard excludes the following assets:

a)  Manually recorded track geometry areas

b)  Switches & crossings (but not plain rail sections between them)

c)  Bull head rail

d)  Jointed track

e)  Buffer stops

f)   Slab track

g)  Long timber bridges

h)  Complex or non-standard layouts

i)   Off track features (fences / non-track drainage / vegetation)

j)   Non-running lines

NOTE: These excluded assets shall continue to be inspected and maintained as mandated in other modules of this standard or NR/L2/TRK/001 unless bespoke Risk Based Maintenance regimes are ented as per NR/L2/MTC/10662.
