This Network Rail standard specifies processes that provide assurance to the Network Rail Acceptance Panel that the accountabilities of the New Product Group are satisfied.

This standard applies to all applications for product acceptance received by the Network Rail Product Acceptance team. It applies to the New Product Group and activities carried out by the Network Rail Product Acceptance team on behalf of New Product Group.

Purpose

New Product Group governs the product introduction and change process under delegation from Network Rail Acceptance Panel. The group is accountable to Network Rail Acceptance Panel for:

a) the decision on whether it is in the interests of the business to proceed with the process of developing and accepting each proposal received;

b) stating the reasons for declination for each returned proposal;

c) the proposal of the assessment route and priority for each endorsed proposal i.e. through infrastructure system review panel or Professional Head(s);

d) the appointment of the sponsor for endorsed proposals;

e) the review of the assessment programme and re-adjustment of priorities as appropriate.

This standard therefore acts as a remit from Network Rail Acceptance Panel to New Product Group.
