This work instruction applies to:

a) the management of safety related events for structures and operational property that impact the operational railway irrespective of ownership; and

b) Network Rail owned Structures or Operational Property remote from the operational railway where the event has safety implications for either railway staff or members of the public

Purpose

This work instruction defines the system for the recording, rating, reporting and reviewing of safety related events

This allows Network Rail to:

a) investigate and report safety related events;

b) carry out a continuous review of the performance of the network;

c) improve current practice through lessons learned Scope.
