This standard applies to;

1 Operational land that could be affected by Mineral Extraction and Landfill operations.

2 Land being considered for purchase, sale or the granting of other land rights by Network Rail.

3 Land where it is proposed to undertake redevelopment, reclamation or Engineering Works.

4 Known Ancient Mineral Workings.

This standard does not cover the requirements, roles and responsibilities for managing the potential effects of currently active or planned coal workings: these are defined in NR/L3/CIV/038: Managing the potential effects of coal mining subsidence.

Purpose

The purpose of this standard is to define the procedures and responsibilities for managing the risks that Mineral Extraction and Landfill operations pose to Network Rail's operations and infrastructure.
