This standard applies to surface car parks, demountable/modular car parks, multi storey car parks, and changes to existing car parks.

The governing principles of design are defined in 3, details of the procedures that might be invoked in the planning stage provided in 4 to 11, whilst operational and construction requirements and considerations are covered in 12 to 26. Detailed design requirements and considerations are covered in Appendix A (with a summary of the information required for a detailed design given in Appendix B) and environmental aspects of design in Appendix C. Appendices D to G provide further information, templates and checklists for some of the procedures that might be invoked during the planning stage.

Purpose

The purpose of this standard is to provide direction and guidance on the design of car parks for railway stations and depots.
