This module describes the process for the timely and effective response to health and safety related concerns raised through the CIRAS.

It applies to employees within Network Rail involved in the formulation or review of responses to health and safety related concerns raised through CIRAS and directed to Network Rail.

NOTE: Examples of commonly reported concerns are:

a) Training and competence

b) Fatigue

c) Safety practices

d) Equipment

e) Work environment

f) Health, well-being and safety of staff, passengers or the public

h) Rules, procedures and compliance

Purpose

This module sets out how Network Rail will use intelligence from concerns raised through the Confidential Incident Reporting and Analysis Service (CIRAS), alongside other sources of safety performance information, to assess the effectiveness of risk controls.
