Network Rail
This procedure applies to all pre-planned outages of equipment within Kent, Sussex and Wessex areas which form Network Rail's high voltage distribution system where such activities will require configuration of the system to enable the outage to be undertaken or where security of supply is affected.
This process applies to you if:
You manage or supervise maintenance teams or technical support staff.
You maintain or inspect equipment.
You check or review maintenance work.
You are responsible for planning maintenance.
This procedure excludes outages on any free-standing high voltage networks not monitored or controlled from an Electrical Control Room.
This procedure also excludes all isolations of overhead line or its associated equipment.
This shall exclude outages of rectifier transformers where the associated feeder cables or other equipment do not require to be switched out or isolated/earthed to achieve the outage.
Purpose
The purpose of this document is to define the roles and responsibilities in the planning and execution of maintenance activities on 3 phase high voltage electrical equipment to maintain supplies to the operational railway whilst traction power equipment is removed from service, and to enable Network Rail's contractual obligations to its electricity suppliers to be met.
