This procedure applies to all the MMTs owned and operated by Network Rail and all Network Rail staff. The procedure works in collaboration with applicable standards of any Railway Undertaking (RU) contracted to operate the MMT.

This module is applicable to planning operation in an all lines possession when the MMU sidewall is deployed.

This module does not detail the planning of working out-of-gauge towards an open adjacent line in a possession. To plan to work OOG in a possession next to an open adjacent line use NR/L3/MTC/ME0300/06 in conjunction with this module.

NOTE:  It is assumed that at least one sidewall will be deployed whenever work is undertaken within the MMU. Based on the sidewall settings the MMT is within W6A gauge whilst the sidewalls are deployed to position 1; therefore, the MMT goes out-of-gauge when the sidewalls are deployed to positions 2-6.

This module applies to the sharing of access within a work site of a possession, PS either egressing or accessing the MMT to place WSMB and the planning of work within a structure.

This module does not replace the requirements of NR/L2/OPS/202, NR/L3/OPS/303 L2/MTC/PL0175.

Purpose

This module provides planning processes for when the MMT is working in a possession; that reduce the risk of the MMT colliding with a passing train or the MMT hitting a track side structure.
